Jim's iPod Playlist

I had someone email me at Myspace and tell me to head on over to the iTunes store. To help promote The Number 23, Jim was the featured celebrity. He told us his playlist on his iPod and reasons for why he liked those songs. Here is the full list:

1. "Strawberry Letter 23" - The Brothers Johnson
"Classic lost song from the '70s. Makes you wanna be on roller skates, with a disco ball.
Coincidence that the number 23's in the title? I think not."

2. "Breed" - Nirvana
"One of my anthems. Put it on and imagine you're pummeling your foe's face into blood soup."

3. "My Immortal" - Evanescence
"Gothic. Hauntingly beautiful voice. I like powerful women."

4. "One" - Mary J. Blige & U2
"I love the light that shines through Mary. And U2's song can really lift you out of the muck"

5. "Close to Me" - The Cure
"This song makes me feel like I'm being held down and tickled."

6. "Time Is Running Out" - Muse
"Really into the energy and power. Definitely written by someone obsessed."

7. "Overtime" - Lucinda Williams
"She breaks my heart."

8. "Fell in Love with a Girl" - The White Stripes
"Not too many originals out there, but Jack is one of 'em. I like him so much that I never want to meet him."

9. "Run" - Snow Patrol
"This song reminds me of a person who's passed on, reaching back to touch the one she loves. Touching, man."

10. "Breathe Me" - Sia
"Song gives me chills - incredible voice. Jenny made me put this song on the list. But I love it, too."

11. "Tear You Apart" - She Wants Revenge
"I found this song for the soundtrack of The Number 23. They're a great L.A. band, and the song is like the kind of passion that overwhelms your partner - loving but slightly brutal."

12. "Lover's Spit" - Broken Social Scene
"Found this one by mistake online. It was no mistake."

13. "A.K.A. I-D-I-O-T" - The Hives
"This is the perfect 'We're not buyin' your bullsh*t' song."

14. "Do You Realize?" - The Flaming Lips
"You're perfect. Love yourself. And commit to being fully present. This song is a joygasm."

15. "Hallelujah" - Jeff Buckley
"One of the most beautiful tracks ever. Everyone should be familiar with this song. Originally recorded by Leonard Cohen - I love Jeff's version. His soul was crying out."

16. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
"Iz was Hawaii's most popular singer until his death in 1997. I love his interpretation of this song. It's so transcendent that you don't even care that the lyrics are wrong. It's even better that way."

17. "Round Midnight" - John Coltrane
"How can anyone beat the joy of Coltrane? Some things are classic for a reason. Everything Coltrane. Trust me! Just sit back and let him drive. The scenery he creates is breathtaking."

18. "Limp" - Fiona Apple
"I saw her live. It was staggering. One of the most talented people I've ever seen. She's totally hooked in. Pure and uncut."

19. "American Idiot" - Green Day
"These guys just get better and better. I love that this song exists. They took the words right out of my mouth."

20. "Nobody Home" - Pink Floyd
"Remember when there were only '15 channels of sh*t on the TV to choose from, choose from, choose from?'"

21. "Land of Hope and Dreams" - Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band
"This song is about unconditional love and acceptance. It's salvation for all of us sinners. And the performance is like watching an architect build a grand cathedral. Sublime!"

22. "Hey Man Nice Shot" - Filter
"I heard it was about Kurt Cobain, who was born in 1967 and died in 1994; both dates add up to 23."

23. "I Am the Walrus" - Jim Carrey
"Well, I am." (you sure are Jimmy!)

Jim's New Love

According to People magazine's recent issue dated June 19, 2006, Jim Carrey is dating Jenny McCarthy. The article is as follows:

When Scoop asked in December if Jim Carrey, 44, was dating Jenny McCarthy, he paused before saying, "I like her." Now a source close to the two finally confirms it: They are indeed a couple. "They're very happy," says the source. The pair was spotted at an L.A. resturant last month, but don't think they are going public. When the newly divorced McCarthy, 33, was asked on May 31 on The View if she was dating a "Well-known comedian who makes funny faces," she replied, "No comment. Does that ever work?"
Jim Carrey Takes a 'Jim Carrey Quiz'

This interview with Jim was on The Insider. Jim is taking a quiz about lines from his own movies.

Jim, himself, was willing to play a little round of "Stump the Star," in which Pat reads lines from some of the comic actor's most popular movies, challenging Jim to figure out what films they're from.

PAT: "I'd make it roll over, but it's hard on the paint job."
JIM: That would be the latest, 'Fun with Dick and Jane.'

PAT: One for one. "Smite me, oh mighty smiter."
JIM: 'Bruce Almighty.'

PAT: Two for two. "Sand is overrated. It's just tiny little rocks."
JIM: Oh gosh. 'Dumb and Dumber'? 'Liar, Liar.' Oh, 'Eternal Sunshine [of the Spotless Mind].'

PAT: "No, it wasn't me, it was the one-armed man."
JIM: Is that when I was masquerading as HARRISON FORD? No, I don't remember that. What was that?
PAT: Rhymes with task.
JIM: Oh really, I said that in that movie ['The Mask']? See how deep I get. Well, thanks a lot Pat. This is a great little contest you got going here. Fantastic. Can't I, like, bob for apples or something?

PAT: "Like the jacket? It keeps me safe while I'm jogging at night."
JIM: This is a horrible contest. It's terrible. You have no idea. I've had so many diet sodas.
PAT: That was 'Batman Forever.'

Jim to Team Up With Tim Burton?

Quirky funnyman Jim Carrey and wildly imaginative filmmaker Tim Burton may be teaming up for the off-beat action-adventure Believe It or Not!, a film loosely based on the life of Robert Ripley, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The film will reportedly follow the exploits of Ripley, a sports cartoonist who became fascinated with the strange and unusual. He became a larger-than-life personality in the 1930s and '40s, known for canvassing the globe in search of oddities and having adventures while doing so. Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander (Ed Wood, Man on the Moon) wrote the script which begins with Ripley already well-established and searching globally for oddities with his friends, each of whom has a special ability.

The Paramount Pictures project is tentatively set for an October start with an eye towards a 2007 release. Producers have hinted at the possibility of a franchise if the first film is a hit.

Jim to Star in "The Number 23"

Comingsoon.net, Jim Carrey has been talking with director Joel Schumacher, who also directed him in "Batman Forever", to star in the thriller "The Number 23".

According to Variety, Carrey will play a man who becomes obsessed by a book that appears to describe his life, but ends with the murder of the main character. The title of the film comes in when the number 23 appears over and over in the book, seemingly woven into the plot, and he becomes obsessed with the number in his own life while trying to ensure that he is not murdered.

The film will be under production soon. Shooting may even possibly begin as early as November.

New Upcoming Movie Deal For Jim?

According to Variety, Jim Carrey is in talks to star in 'Used Guys'. The comedy will also star Ben Stiller according to Variety.

The movie will be set in the future where women live alongside male clones after natural males were killed off due to an enhancement drink. Carrey and Stiller will play obsolete clones whose partnership skills have been surpassed by newer models. The clones are determined to regain their dignity and search for a male nirvana known as Mantopia.

Jay Roach (Austin Powers) directs from a script by Micky Bernbaum. Stiller also produces at Red Hour Films. Variety reports that the plan is to shoot next spring. Used Guys would mark the first onscreen star pairing of Carrey and Stiller, though the latter directed Carrey in The Cable Guy. It will also be Carrey's first film with Roach.

New Pictures Of Jim

As Paris Hilton would say, "That's Hot"

My Personal & Upclose Pictures of the Bruce Almighty Premiere

I have finally been able to add my Jim pics from the Bruce Almighty premiere that I went to! They are really good close up shots! I shook his hand as he worked his way down the line. It was my first time meeting him. The time I actually talked to him came later when I was at the screening for Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind. (See story below)

If you would like to use these pictures for anything, YOU NEED TO ATTAIN MY PERMISSION FIRST by emailing me at: jimecarrey2000@yahoo.com

Keep in mind they belong to JIM CARREY IS MY INSPIRATION website! THANK YOU!

Well, it has finally happened. I met Jim Carrey.

However before I begin the tale, I have something else to say on this topic.

Someone signed my guestbook as a private entry and then decided to not tell me who they were when I opened the message to read it. Why hide who you are? Anyway, the message read "Instead of bragging about your close encounters with Jim Carrey, why don't you actually tell people how he inspired you?" I personally think that in my write-up about my encounter with Jim, I make it very clear how he has inspired me. I would challenge anyone to go through what I have and then see how they would handle it. This situation I have been through is not something I am proud of, so I would hardly call my entry about meeting Jim "bragging". I would never want to go through this situation again!

Do I feel blessed that I have met him? Yes, I do. I will not lie about that. After all, I have admired him for 13 years now. He is who inspired me to chase my dream. Never did I imagine that someday I would be going through all the hard times he did. So it makes me feel even more inspired by him. But by my telling others what happened, I meant for it to be inspiring for others. That their hope of meeting him someday will happen.

I am sorry if anyone has taken anything I have said about my meeting Jim in the wrong way. I am not "bragging" about it. I am simply telling my story. Jim Carrey Online has a whole section dedicated just for you to tell your story about meeting Jim or Jim sightings. So I feel my telling my story is no different then others telling their tale as well. Now on with the story... :-)

I went to the first screening of Jim's upcoming movie, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which was very very good by the way. Well, Jim is known to show up at the first screenings for his movies. So we sat as far back as possible in the theater in hopes of seeing him sneak in the back door after the lights went down. Well, we never saw him come in.

Next thing I know, after the movie we looked up and saw Jim's personal assistant, Linda. So we knew that Jim HAD to be there somewhere.

So we went outside and decided to go to the back of the theater to see if Jim came out the back. When we got back there, we saw a black SUV waiting by the sidewalk with it's lights on. We sat by the car waiting to see if Jim came out and to see who was going to get into that SUV. I did not want to pass up my chance to meet him.

About 30 minutes of waiting, Jim, his daughter Jane, Linda, and some other man walk out the back doors. Then a few other guys joined in the group. They were just standing out there talking. By this point it is 10:00 pm and I told them that if the group got smaller I would go over to Jim. About 10 seconds later, about 3 of the people walked off and all that was center was Jim, Jane, Linda, and the guy who I assume is a bodyguard. So I got a fresh piece of gum and decided that I should not litter (LOL) and go over to the trashcan that was about 5 feet from Jim and his group. So I started walking over there like I was on some mission from God! LOL

I threw my trash away and took one step away from the trash can and I waited. All 4 of them looked over at me at the same time and the bodyguard guy kinda tensed up a bit but Jim put is hand out towards them and said really sweetly, "No. It's okay."

He looked me right in the eye, smiled really big, put out his hand before he even got over to me and walked up to me and shook my hand. So I proceeded to apologize to the group for interuppting.

I looked up at Jim and I said the following: "I have been wanting to tell you something for the longest time." He was smiling at me and said, "Okay." I said, "I have recently gone through some very difficult times that I know for fact you can relate to. I was living out of a car with my family earlier this year and now I am staying in a hotel room in exchange for my stay there. I have been following your career for 12 years now and it freaks me out that my life is become parallel to your past." He said, "Oh, man." Like he was sympathetic. But he looked at me and never looked away. He seemed really interested in what I had to say.

I then said, "I have something for you. I have been carrying this around with me for awhile now." And I pulled out the letter I had written him earlier this year. I said, "It is only one page. Short, sweet and to the point." He said, "That's okay."

I said, "Please read this whenever you get a chance. It explains my situation in more detail and it would be nice to vent to someone who I know understands what it is like. Plus on top of the pressure pile, I came out here to act so that just adds to the pile of crap."

He said, "Don't call it crap. Just keep the faith." I said, "Well, I am still going through these hard times so it is crap. Maybe one day I will look back and laugh but not right now." And he smiled. Then he put out his hand to shake mine again so I shook it and then we were hugging.

So I told him once more to read it when he got the chance and really sweetly he said, "I will. I will. Thank you." Jim's daughter was smiling the entire time at me. LOL So I am relieved that I got to tell Jim how I feel and give him my letter about my situation. Just pray that he responds in some way. I really need to talk to someone who can fully understand how I am feeling. And you could tell while I was talking to Jim that he certainly did not expect me to tell him all I did. I did not ask for a picture or an autograph. That would be acting like a typical fan and I did not want to treat him like that. So I handled it very classy and did not studder or mess up what I had to say.

But I am kinda disappointed now that it is over. I am not a typical fan. I am not trying to gush all over him. I just need to talk to my mentor basically. So as silly as it may sound, please pray that this is not the end of this story.
